DELIVERY OF PRODUCTS TO OTHER COUNTRIES

Often our customers have a question: is it possible to export products made from mammoth bones to other countries? For the export of bone carving works from the mammoth tusk, walrus penis, walrus tusk and other bone, it is necessary to make an examination of the bone souvenir. There is nothing complicated about this procedure. The expert commission is located in the city center at the address: ul. Old Arbat, 53a, p.6 (Museum-apartment of A.S. Pushkin). The nearest metro station is Smolenskaya.

Reception of citizens and organizations is held on weekdays from 10.00 to 17.00 (lunch break from 14.00 to 15.00) and on Saturday – from 10.00 to 15.00 – for those who can not come on weekdays. Telephone for information: 8-499-252-76-75.

You should have 2 photos of the product with you, a photocopy of your passport, if the work is sent by mail, or a copy of the foreign passport, if you take out the souvenir yourself. Write a statement, a list of products. If there are several works (samples of filling are on the stands), provide the products themselves. After inspection of the work you will be given a receipt for payment of the fee for the examination, as a rule, the amount is small: about 300-500 rubles. The procedure takes about 2 hours, but it all depends on the number of visitors. You will be issued a certificate with the signature of the expert that this bone product is not a cultural value and export is allowed. In the photo of the product stamped “Export is allowed.”

In fact, in order to avoid problems at customs, it is desirable to receive this certificate for any artistic work, regardless of the material and technique. Because proving to a customs official that a painting, a matryoshka, a wooden sculpture, and other handicraft is not a cultural value 2 hours before departure is a rather unpleasant and nervous procedure, and by law a customs officer is right.

Attention. This procedure is applicable only for work not older than 50 years.

With the tusk of a mammoth and its fragments, the situation is much more complicated, a export license is required, for registration of which many other certificates and certificates are required. But today you can legally export a fragment of a bone or mammoth tusk, if the bones are exported by an individual for personal use, but not more than one fragment weighing up to 10 kg in one piece. These rules are established by the decision of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission No. 134 dated August 16, 2012.
